Report on Visit to Boston May 2016

Between 10 and 22 May 2016 Sr. Christine Coakley (Philadelphia) and Sr. Maureen McManus visited Boston Senatus and its 3 attached Comitia at Providence, New Haven and Hartfort.

Boston Senatus: Many travelled long distances to be present. Meetings were also held with the Senatus officers. The need to increase the number of directly attached praesidia was stressed; it is on this core that the Senatus is based. There are groups of legionaries who speak Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and Haitian. The Legion helps out with parish evangelisation days for which the Bishop expressed his gratitude.
Providence Comitium has a good emphasis on extension. A new praesidium was set up. The Comitium is made up of 13 praesidia and Curiae, one of which is based at Crantston and is involved in Enthronements to the Sacred Heart.

New Haven Comitium has 1 junior and 6 senior praesidia and 2 Curiae based at Bridgefort and Waterbury. The schools praesidium at Waterbury has 47 members. There is need for more emphasis on youth. It was suggested they organise youth Retreats and a Youth Conference.
HartfortComitium: They have a 12-member praesidium in a prison.
