Procedure to be Followed in the Event of Closure of a Praesidium of Legion of Mary Council

PROCEDURE TO BE FOLLOWED IN THE EVENT OF CLOSURE OF A PRAESIDIUM OR LEGION OF MARY COUNCIL
Notice for the Attention of all Legion Councils throughout the world

Whenever it becomes necessary to close a Legion of Mary praesidium or Legion council it should be the norm that legionaries from the higher council would be asked to retrieve Legion of Mary altar equipment from the praesidium or council due to be closed. This includes the Statue of Our Blessed Lady, the Vexillum, the Legion altar cloth, the candlesticks and vases. Any Legion literature, Handbooks and remaining Legion funds should also be collected and returned to the higher council. This equipment, books etc. can then be given to a new praesidium or council which is being raised to higher status.

It has become necessary to remind legionaries of this requirement because these items are the property of the Legion of Mary, paid for by the members.
It has come to notice that Legion property is to be found in Church sacristies, Religious houses and other places that used to hold Legion of Mary meetings. More recently still it is seen that Legion of Mary property is being offered for sale on e-bay and other similar sites.
