Election of Concilium Assistant Treasurer

Nominations were sought for the office of Assistant Treasurer of the Concilium, notice of the election having been given previously. Enda Dunleavy was proposed and seconded and as there were no other nominations, he was duly elected Assistant Treasurer of the Concilium.

Death of Former Legion Envoy

News was received of the death on 4 April 2012 in her native Netherlands of Therese de Ridder, Legion Envoy to Chile 1965 – 1971. Therese travelled extensively in Chile extending the Legion during her Envoyship. At home in the Netherlands she was very active in her parish particularly in preparing children for the sacraments. May her generous soul rest in peace.

Pan African Congress of Catholic Laity

The Concilium was happy to accept an invitation from the Pontifical Council for the Laity in Rome to send representatives to this Congress, which is being organised by the Pontifical Council. The Congress is to take place in Cameroon 4 – 9 September 2012 and will have as its theme: Witnessing to Jesus Christ in Africa today.”
International Eucharistic Congress 10 – 17 June 2012 in Dublin
Prayers were asked for the success of the Congress. The Concilium continues its preparations, as detailed at the March meeting, for an Open Week during the Congress when it will welcome those who wish to visit the headquarters of the Legion. There will be a Mass for all legionaries attending the Congress in St. Mary of the Angels’ Capuchin Church, Church Street, on Friday 15 June at 7.30 p.m. This will be followed by a social evening in the Concilium. On Saturday 16 June presentations on the theme: “Mary and Evangelisation” will be made at the Congress by Rev. Fr. Bede McGregor, O.P. Concilium Spiritual Director, and Rev. Fr. Paul Churchill, Judicial Vicar, Archdiocese of Dublin, and Legion Curia Spiritual Director.
Concilium Meeting June, 2012 – Change of Date
A Reminder: As the International Eucharistic Congress takes place 10 – 17 June, the Concilium Meeting which should take place on Sunday 17 June will be brought forward to Saturday 9 June at the usual time of 3 p.m. in the usual venue: Nazareth Hall, De Montfort House, Morning Star Avenue, Brunswick Street, Dublin 7.
