HONG KONG
Hong Kong Comitium: Two Curiae and 8 praesidia presented reports, with much substantial work going on, including: many young and adult religious evangelisation classes; one praesidium reports a class in a parish preparing 12 adults for Baptism and another class for the staff in Hong Kong Airport, 4 of whom were baptized at Easter. A praesidium reported the recruitment of two newly-baptised persons and Sunday school for children aged 3-15, also a class for 20 adult catechumens. In conjunction with the Salesian Fathers, a praesidium assists in a club of about 70 children, mostly non-Catholics. Reports also include crowd contact, care of junior praesidia, prison visitation, a centre for drug abusers, Rosary groups, helping in pastoral care at a hospital and visiting the newly-baptised. Immaculata Curia report a Sunday school with 76 catechumens, where 47 persons were baptised. Rosari Curia expressed their gratitude to Sr. Mary Anthony Ryan, a Columban Spiritual Director, who has retired back to her native Ireland.

SINGAPORE
Singapore Senatus: Bishop Simon Poh, newly appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Kuching, a Mill Hill father was co-celebrant at the Legion Mass on 25th September in Knock Shrine. In Kuching Comitium a Curia was inaugurated and a new praesidium established. The 60th Anniversary of the Legion in Sibu Comitium was celebrated, also the 50th anniversary of the English-speaking Curia. Reports include, Hospital and Nursing Home visitation, plus helping at funerals and wakes. The Curia in the Diocese of Miri, East Malasia has split into two separate Curiae.
Kuala Lumpar Regia: Reports were taken from 3 praesidia, one Filipino, one Tamil and one English-speaking, with a total membership of 64 active, 5 probationers and 80 auxiliaries. Works include: Orphanage, home and Hospital visitation; conducting classes for migrants, block Rosaries in May and October, helping in soup kitchens, visiting an Aboriginal village, the lapsed and a Shelter for HIV patients. Eight council reports were taken, with 548 active and 934 auxiliary members. Works include: attending wakes and funerals; home and hospital visitation. They also teach catechism and assist at RCIA courses. One praesidium did Exploratio Dominicalis. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Gopal gave the Curia Retreat. Extension is on-going. A Filipino praesidium is being set up.

TAIWAN
Taiwan Senatus: The attendance at praesidia and council metings is excellent. All praesidia have many auxiliary and Adjutorian members. One Curia has 247 auxiliaries and 43 Adjutorians. Four new praesidia have been established and a parish in Nantou is seeking to have the Legion in its area.

INDONESIA
Malang Senatus: Visitation of councils continues. Two new Comitia and a number of senior and junior praesidia were set up. Works reported: visitation of the sick and elderly; distribution of Holy Communion; teaching Sunday school; organising Rosaries in May and October; visitation of prisons; extension of the Legion in Universities and instruction of catechumens.
Jakarta Senatus: Works include visitation of the sick and dying and arranging to have them anointed, helping the elderly, preparing people for Baptism, care of bodies of deceased persons and contact with street children. A couple were visited prior to a prison sentence. Medan Regia established two new praesidia. A Curia in Jakarta has 10 praesidia in 4 parishes.

JAPAN
Osaka Senatus: A Pilgrimage was organised to Hahramach Church, Fukushima, an earthquake-effected city in one of the Victim Support areas of Tokyo Diocese. Mass was concelebrated by 4 priests, and prayers recited by laity and volunteers. Reports were received from Nagasaki Regia and 2 praesidia. Works include: visitation of nursing homes and hospitals; helping at Liturgical Services, distributing Newsletters, leaflets and Catholic magazines to parishioners and helping at Sunday schools.

KOREA
Seoul Senatus: Officers of two praesidia of the Korean Catholic Church in Russia were ratified. Incheon Regia has 23,436 active members and 26,015 auxiliaries. They enrolled 6,412 persons in RCIA for adult classes, and recorded 3,996 catechumen Baptisms. At the request of their Spiritual Director, a Curia undertook street contact; out of the people contacted, 17 joined the RCIA course and are getting ready for Baptism. An entire family registered for the RCIA course after being contacted by legionaries who attended the non-Catholic funeral of a member of the same family.
Gwanju Senatus: Jeojun-dong Comitium reported that 1,246 persons became catechumens and 124 were baptised. 197 lapsed Catholics returned to the Sacraments. A new Curia was set up. Another new Curia and 14 praesidia, including one for young adults were established by Im-dong Comitium. Munheng-dong Comitium recruited 1,036 catechumens and 111 were baptised. 150 people returned to the Sacraments. Most councils report home visitation, visits to the sick and bereaved, also help with Sunday school
Daegu Senatus: Recruitment of catechumens, Baptisms, returns to the Sacraments, visitation of hospitals and Welfare Institutions and recruitment of new legionaries are included in most reports. Andong Regia recorded 90 Baptisms, 24 returns to the Sacraments and 89 catechumens recruited. Activities were planned for the 60th Anniversary of the Legion in Daegu Archdiocese.

EUROPE
AUSTRIA
Austria Senatus: A student praesidium undertakes an apostate to teenagers called ‘Jesus Friends.’ 20 senior and 7 junior members took part in an Exploratio Dominicalis project. A Syrian junior praesidium runs a group for Syrian children. Contact work is done in Bordellos along the border area of Czech Republic. A Retreat is planned for street girls.

CZECH REPUBLIC:
Prague Comitium undertakes extension in 2 Dioceses and in the city of Rakovnik, Slovakia. 23 attended a three-day Retreat and undertook True Devotion to Mary. A summer camp for teenage girls was held.

BULGARIA: A new Curia with 4 praesidia was established.

UKRAINE: A summer school was held.

BELARUS
Belarus Comitium governs 12 directly attached praesidia and 11 Curiae. A Summer school was held. During Church-watch legionaries often bring to Faith those visiting the Church. A praesidium of young people visits young families. Other works include, visitation of a student residence with Catholic literature. A praesidium visiting Addiction Centres found that the Pioneer Promise of Abstinence from alcohol helps addicted people.

CROATIA
Zagreb Regia held its first Congress with an attendance of 70. Reports from praesidia and councils recorded many miracles of grace, 5 married couples reconciled, one as a result of Pilgrimage statue visitation; 2 ladies reconciled with the Church after 40 years; two new praesidia and a new Curia with 4 praesidia. A junior Curia held its own Acies with an attendance of 50.

SLOVENIA
A PPC project by Senatus of Austria was carried out from 1st to 6th June.

BOSNIA HERZEGOVINA
Sarajevo Curia: 7 legionaries took their Promise in the new Varis praesidium.

HUNGARY
Budapest Regia has 5 Comitia, 10 Curia and 24 praesidia attached. The sick and elderly are visited and helped to receive the Sacraments. One praesidium has an apostolate to Roma children. Legionaries lead 2 youth groups of mentally and physically retarded youth.

LATVIA
Riga Comitium: 50 legionaries attended the Annual Retreat. 8 new members were recruited and a junior praesidium with 6 members was set up. Works include, home visitation and street contact. Legionaries take a special-needs boy to Sunday Mass. A family was prepared for the Sacraments and now all family members are regular Church attenders. Jelgava Curia has 2 praesidia.

LITHUANIA
Kaunas Comitium: Arrangements were made for a couple in their mid- seventies to be married in the Church. The council is planning to start an apostolate to women caught up in prostitution.
Telsia Comitium: Numerous returns to the Sacraments were recorded, some after 5, 10 and 30 years, among them a 90 year old lady. On world day of the sick 38 people were helped to receive the Sacraments.

POLAND
Warsaw Comitium: Some new praesidia in the Gdansk Region gives prospects for erection of a new Curia there. Legionaries from the Comitium take part annually on PPC projects to Slovakia. Lublin Regia: The Regia took part in the preparation for World Youth Day, distributing Miraculous Medals with leaflets in Russian and English. They hosted 4 foreign groups in 2 Deaneries.

ROMANIA
Satu Mare Regia: Their apostolate consists mainly in visitation of the sick and elderly, preparing them for the Sacraments, recitation of the Rosary at Funerals, organising Eucharistic Adoration and helping with the work of Radio Maria.

IRISH PROVINCIAL REPORT

COMITIA

Dromore Comitium: One praesidium visits nursing homes, a hospital in Newry and schools with members of other praesidia. Warrenpoint praesidium members visit homes with a Pilgrim statue, distribute Miraculous Medals, visit Catholic schools in Newry and show DVDs on the Eucharist and the Miraculous Medal. They have 50 auxiliaries.
Navan Comitium: A praesidium with 6 members 5 of whom are Praetorians has 55 auxiliaries. They visited 200 homes, assisted with children’s Adoration in the parish and organised parish Group Rosaries in October. 10 homes hosted such Rosaries. A Confirmation class was visited and given a talk on the Pioneers and 11 enrolled as young Pioneers. A praesidium in Kells does home and Nursing Home visitation. Trim legionaries encouraged non-believers to return to practice and promoted a Holy Door Pilgrimage.
Derry Comitium: A reporting praesidium has 7 members, 40 auxiliaries, and 2 Praetorians. Most of their work involves visiting residential homes. Another praesidium has 12 members, 41 auxiliaries and 2 Adjutorians. Among the many works are home visitation and Pilgrim statue work. Longtower praesidium does home and Pilgrim statue visitation and visits the local Psychiatric Hospital. Inishowen Curia has 54 members in its 9 praesidia. Works include home, Pilgrim statue and hospital visitation.
Raphoe Comitium has one attached Curia and 10 praesidia. A reporting praesidium in Letterkenny has 5 members and 113 auxiliaries. They visit homes, nursing homes, the sick and housebound, a Hospice and Hostels. In South West Raphoe Curia the Bruckless Mission and Legion team helped in the preparations for the parish Mission; turnout for the Mission was good.

CURIAE

Leitrim Curia: A junior praesidium has 9 children on roll who help to make Rosary beads, some of which were sent to Portlaoise Prison. The Jewish husband of a lady who helped to make these beads while ill in hospital requested to see a priest and received Baptism a few days before his death. A senior praesidium has 8 members, 5 of whom are Praetorians and they have 50 auxiliaries. Works include, home visitation using the parish Newsletter and Year of Mercy leaflets. The Rosary was taught to children in a Primary School. Their monthly Patricians had up to 10 people in attendance.
Clogher Curia: They have 6 praesidia attached. Two praesidia reported an increase in membership, one gained 3 and another 2 new members. Lisnaskea, Scotstown and Ederney praesidia have a combined membership of 21. Works include visiting homes where either parents or children are affected by addiction problems. Miraculous Medals and religious literature are given out. A youth who got into trouble was given help. Legionaries speak on the importance of prayer and encourage the lapsed to return to practice. During the year refugee families were brought to Mass.
Clonmacnoise Curia: The works of the 3 praesidia attached include visits to a Nursing Home and visiting First Communion and Confirmation classes in the schools. Six members did contact work on Pattern Day; they met a lot of visitors and a number of young people. Mount Temple legionaries organised a family Mass in their own Church and hope to continue every month.
Armagh Curia: (Archdiocese of Armagh). The July meeting included a discussion on trying to recruit auxiliaries as active members.
Drogheda Curia: To mark the 1,000th meeting of the Curia, Holy Mass was concelebrated before the August meeting by their Spiritual Director, Fr. Derek O’Connell and former Spiritual Director, Fr. Joe Heffernan. Following a course of preparation for Total Consecration to Mary Mass was celebrated in the Dominican Church on 31 May. A commemoration of the late Legion Envoy Sr. Kathleen Allen included Mass on 12 June and a ceremony at her graveside on 21 June. Many contacts were made at a Shopping Centre book barrow. The praesidium meeting in Mellifont Abbey, Collon, organised candlelight processions on 15th August and 8th December. Works include, home visitation and visits to the elderly. They distributed Miraculous Medals in the Primary School to children preparing for First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
Dundalk Curia: The works of a reporting praesidium with 9 members include Altar Society and other Church work, visitation of hospitals and nursing homes. The parish Pastoral Council organised a parish visitation to all homes in the parish and invited Legion participation. A Mass was organised by a praesidium to celebrate Frank Duff’s birthday on 7th June. Fr. Griffen from Faughart attended the July Curia meeting and requested Curia help in promoting the Novena of Hope by visiting homes. Another praesidium with 6 members visited homes in 2 parishes and encouraged the lapsed to return.
Immaculata Curia: (Diocese of Down & Connor). Bishop Noel Traynor has given permission for the Curia to be raised to Comitium. They are planning a second Youth Conference on 22nd October.
Down Curia: On the invitation of the local Parish Priest, legionaries from the Curia took part in home visitation in Ardglass parish. 140 homes were visited. Many lapsed promised to return to Mass. The Kilkeel praesidium has 6 members and 14 auxiliaries. There are 3 Fatima statues in circulation, and many families have said that they experienced peace and comfort from having the presence of Our Lady in their homes.

DUBLIN SOUTHSIDE

Ancilla Domini Curia were pleased with the attendance at the Vigil in St. Nicholas of Myra Church on Sept 9th to commemorate the Legion’s founding, while one week later on Culture Night, up to 200 people visited Myra House. Two legionaries in the local praesidium do street contact outside the Legion house every Saturday using the Miraculous Medal and offering a guided tour of the house. A cumulative 19 people attended the last two Pauline Circle meetings, including 4 non-Catholics. In another praesidium two Patrician meetings had 12 patricians and 3 legionaries in attendance.

Annunciata Curia: A discussion on the student praesidium in UCD took place at the August meeting. Last academic year, it had 4 student members and a retired Diocesan priest as Spiritual Director, with a Curia officer regularly attending. Suggestions included writing to all Irish Councils so that former junior legionaries attending UCD might join the University praesidium. A praesidium of 6 active and 90 auxiliary members organised a ceremony in July at which 19 people were invested with the Brown Scapular. As a result of two Shopping Centre projects, the praesidium had one visitor and encountered two ladies interested in undertaking the RCIA course. A cumulative 37 patricians and 9 legionaries attended 4 meetings.

Gloriosa Curia: Four new officers were appointed to a 1-year-old praesidium; Four new officers were also appointed to the reconvened NUI Maynooth praesidium. The Maynooth parish praesidium has 7 full members, despite three members transferring during the year to start a new praesidium in Kilcock, attached to Kildare Curia. Legionaries contact students on the street. The manager of a Shopping Centre allowed the erection of a crib and has now decided to buy a new enlarged crib.

Mary Spouse of the Holy Spirit Curia: The parish Project run on 3rd and 4th September proved a great success, with 49 legionaries from the Archdiocese and Drogheda taking part. Religious packs were delivered to 2,400 homes and almost 1,000 householders were contacted. In addition many parishioners were trained in the art of home visitation. The parish Pastoral Council was deeply grateful for the Project. Separately, Edel Quinn and Frank Duff Prayer Meetings had 10 and 6 respectively in attendance. A praesidium doing home visitation delivers 100 Maria Legionis and brings nursing home residents to Mass in the nearby Church every Friday. They gave Miraculous Medals and Rosary Beads to the Holy Communion and Confirmation classes in the local school.
Immaculata Curia: The Curia Annual Outing was to the Venerable Mother Mary Aikenhead Centre, Harold’s Cross. A Recruiting Drive included home visitation with help from visiting Colombian and other South American legionaries. 23 legionaries and 37 patricians attended 6 Patrician meetings. Sr. Mary Quinn, an active legionary, recently celebrated her 100th birthday. The main work of one praesidium continues to be home visitation; all 6 praesidium members did the 33 day TDM preparation and made the subsequent Consecration.

Mater Ecclesiae Curia: A shrine has been put in place in one Church in honour of Venerable Edel Quinn and Mother Mary Martin. 80 people attended the Annual Retreat for the disabled. A praesidium of 7 full members has two Praetorians. Legionaries continue to be members of the Baptism Team, visiting families on four occasions. They also co-ordinate Eucharistic Adoration in a neighbouring parish, preparing Adoration Sheets with a thought for each day based on the Saint of that day; an Intentions Box has proved a great success. A praesidium of 6 members continues with a public Rosary outside the parish Church every Saturday followed by street contact; this enterprise commenced in 1979. Two legionaries accompany Secondary School students in a city centre late-night Soup Run; they speak and pray with addicts and give them sacramentals. A Traveller Halting Site has been regularly visited.

Our Lady of Fatima Wicklow Curia: The Bray praesidium visits four nursing homes. 50 families accepted their Pilgrim statue during the year. They held a gathering to celebrate the end of the Year of Consecrated Life last October at which 20 attended. Seven Confirmation children were enrolled as Pioneers.

Assumpta Curia: A paper on the Curia area’s links with Edel Quinn began the discussion at the August Curia meeting.The main works of a praesidium of 5 active and 8 Adjutorian members are home visitation, a monthly Frank Duff Prayer Meeting and the sale of Irish Catholic newspapers.

AFRICA

BURUNDI
Senatus of Gitaga: Work on completion of the Senatus building is on-going.

CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC
Senatus of Bangui: Reports indicate that the area is emerging from the trauma of unrest and the sudden tragic death of their President Jean Ougaza. Reports include a litany of conversions with news of events beginning to flow in again from attached councils. The Archbishop of Bangui, Mgr. Dieudonné Nzapalainga, has been honoured by the Holy Father with the rank of Cardinal.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
Senatus of Butembo: Reports from 12 councils and 2 praesidia give details of home visitation, recitation of public Rosaries, an apostolate to agricultural workers and street girls and enrolling of children for catechesis. Four abortions were prevented, 7 adults and 160 children baptised, and 26 alcoholics helped with their addictions; two of them were later Confirmed. 8 Protestants were converted to the Catholic Church, many marriages blessed, couples reconciled and prayers taught to juniors. The Senatus President and 7 officers from attached councils undertook an apostolic visit to the Dioceses of Bunia and Mahagi-Nioka from 22-28 August to give formation sessions to young legionaries on taking up officerships. Subjects covered included youth conduct, duties of officers and the history of the Legion. The Senatus has forwarded the statistics requested by Concilium regarding the formation of a Regia in the Diocese of Bunia. Prayers are requested for those killed in a massacre in the town of Beni on 13 August caused by insurgents from some neighbouring countries. The Papal Nuncio and Hierarchy gathered in the Diocese to console people who had lost family members and friends in the massacre and to pray for unity.

Senatus of Bukavu: Activities reported on include, the organising of 6 Cenacles, 6 Retreats and a session for the training of Legion officers. The 25th anniversary celebration of founding of the Legion in the Regia of Goma took place in Notre Dame de l’Afrique in Kaitoy with numerous legionaries from all corners of Goma being present as well as representatives from the Senatus of Bukavu. Two Pilgrimages were organised by legionaries and conducted by the Archbishop of Bukavu, Mgr. Francois Zavier Maroy, one to a Marian Shrine and the other to the Cathedral’s Holy Door to mark the Year of Mercy. 1,850 prisoners were visited and helped in the prisons of Bukavu, Kabare and Walungu. Problems mentioned are those of illness, old age and poverty.

Kinshasa Senatus: Elections of new Senatus officers are due in December next, except for that of President which falls due in October of next year.

Kisangani Senatus: Visitation and counselling of families is of primary concern as they consider the family the cradle of vocations. 3 Comitia, with average membership of 500 each, gave their reports. 118 families were reconciled, 108 couples married in Church, 495 persons baptised and 20 Confirmed. 110 bereaved families were consoled and the sick were visited in hospitals. On 29th of May 1,003 legionaries visited 3,000 prisoners. 12 Catechists prepared children for Sacraments. 5,000 took part in the Acies. Councils are being visited on a regular basis with new councils being set up.

Katanga Senatus: This Senatus, otherwise known as the Senatus of Kasai, governs the Legion in West and East Kasai. Minutes indicate systematic visitation of attached Curiae (with 7 visited, plus 1 junior) and Comitia (with 4 visited. including the junior Comitium) in the four month period. The affiliated Regia of Mouji-Mayi reported 9 new praesidia. The Spiritual Director of the Senatus, Abbe Pierre Tchinbombo Mudiba, celebrated the Golden Jubilee of his priesthood on 5th of July at St. Peter and Paul Church, Biancky.

REUNION (MADAGASCAR)
Réunion is now affiliated to the newly formed Paris Senatus in charge of countries which are French Départements, as is Réunion .They still however care-take the island of Madascascar, which is not a French Département. The Comitium has 2 Curiae including a junior Curia and 16 praesidia. Works include: catechesis, visits to the sick and aged, accompanying priests for Confession and Last Sacraments, leading Stations of the Cross during Lent, organising Family Rosary groups, and praying with the bereaved in mortuaries. They report many miracles of grace through prayer, including the deathbed conversion of a man 30 years away from the Sacraments, and a legionary who came out of a coma who is making a good recovery. A young couple who had been living together for nine years had ceased practising. The man was Confirmed after 2 years of instruction and the couple later married in Church. Concilium is indebted to Sr. Seychelles for her faithful service as correspondent over many years.

RWANDA
Senatus of Kigali: Nearly every council and praesidium mentions juniors and intermediates. Some of the Comitia are very big and might need to be split. For example Comitium Kiziguro, which itself was split from Comitium Byumba, has 18 directly attached praesidia, 30 Curiae and 65 junior praesidia, giving a total of nearly 5,500 active senior members. Comitium Kanyanza, split from Comitium Kabgayi, has 31 attached praesidia and 20 Curiae, giving 206 senior praesidia, with another 10 in Secondary Schools and 126 junior praesidia.
Two new Curiae were set up.

SOUTH AMERICA

ARGENTINA
Buenos Aires Senatus: The Annual Pilgrimage to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lujan is a whole day event and includes contact work with pilgrims and tourists alike. The master and apprentice system is used during this work. Legionaries visiting a hospital prayed to Alfie Lambe with a man who had to have both legs amputated. All his family took part in the prayers. The day before the planned operation doctors reported that both legs were perfect. The man has now returned to work.

Cordoba Senatus: A praesidium based in the city of Cordoba visits homes and businesses with a statue of Our Lady and are well received. One of the Senatus officers has sourced Vexillum stems in Mexico and they are to have the globe and base made locally in Cordoba.

Salta Senatus: The youth committee of the Senatus is very active working amongst teenagers and young adults. There are a good percentage of young legionaries in the Senatus area. Many praesidia do heroic work in barrios with very high percentage of drugs and alcoholism. Some of the young legionaries who do this work have themselves recovered from these vices and give their testimonies to those visited.

Corrientes Regia: A search in on-going for someone to act as Incola Mariae in Obera in the distant region of Las Misiones. A Curia of nine praesidia carry out street contact in an activity called “Pesca Milagrosa” (Miraculous Fishing). They also organised public Rosaries and visited hospitals, clinics and prisons.
Rosario Regia: Diana Martinez, Vice President of the Regia, visited the Concilium and helped with the translation of the Legion Statutes into Spanish. Each year the Regia has a big attendance of active and auxiliary members at the Anniversary celebrations in September. This year the juniors did a little play called ‘Praesidium in Heaven’, and dressed up in the clothes of 1921.

BRAZIL
Belem Senatus covers two States in the eastern Amazonian region. On visitation, seven per cent of those met, were Protestants, all of whom welcomed the visits from the legionaries. A Comitium in a Marian Sanctuary reports 100 active members, 60 Praetorians, 83 Adjutorians and 483 auxiliaries. Legionary Ministers of the Eucharist bring Holy Communion to the sick and old. On visitation the Rosary is recited and Scripture is read.

Belo Horizonte Senatus: Visits were made to 24 men with the name Joseph and to two carpenters; legionaries spoke to them about St. Joseph. Works recorded included 10,526 home visits, 274 Enthronements to the Sacred Heart, visits to 1,989 children and youths in homes, plus 17 prison visits. An apostolate took place at the exit of three schools contacting parents. The conversion of a non-Catholic family was reported after the Legion visit with an image of Our Lady following a novena to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.

Fortaleza Senatus: Among works undertaken were visits to AIDS victims, mainly children, non-Catholics, the elderly and prisoners, plus contact with drug users. 56 children were prepared for First Holy Communion and 17 young people received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Ponta Grossa Senatus: A meeting for young legionaries had an attendance of 60. Two meetings of Spiritual Directors’ were organised. Of 395 people invited to join the Legion, 89 became active members and 35 auxiliary members. Legionaries prepared 16 young people and 36 adults for the Sacrament of Baptism and arranged Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in 20 homes. An Evangelical lady returned to the Catholic Church.

Recife Senatus: The Archbishop of Recife, Dom Fernando Saburido O.S.B., along with 900 legionaries, took part in the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the founding of the Legion in Recife. Eighteen Spiritual Directors took part in a special Conference, which was attended also by Bishop Edson, the Brazilian Hierarchy’s representative to the Legion. The Regia of Alagoas held a three-day Conference of young legionaries which had an attendance of 400.

Rio de Janeiro Senatus: In addition to its four Regiae, nine Comitia and seven Curiae in its own area, the Senatus has ten Curiae with 122 praesidia in the western Amazonian region. In Leopoldina city shops and bars were included in visitation and Exploratio Dominicalis projects. In the Leme suburb of Rio the book barrow was used to distribute religious literature and parish notices. Porters in apartment buildings were invited to the Men’s Rosary.

Salvador Senatus: Two Curiae were raised to Comitia. The Senatus organised a Peregrinatio Pro Christo 9-17 July in Wenceslau, Guimarães, BA, during which contact was made with Protestants, Catholics and people of no religion on visitation of 326 homes and on street contact. A praesidium of 18 members was set up. Among works reported were Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in homes, a course on the Sacrament of Baptism for parents and godparents, visits to Protestants, organising Bible Circles, and Exploratio Dominicalis.

São Luis Senatus: Reports show 17,390 visits and 10,254 revisits to families with problems, non-Catholics, the bereaved, the sick at home, the elderly, children, single mothers, widows, people on drugs, and an apostolate to street girls and prisoners. Many people were prepared for the Sacraments.
São Paulo Senatus: Reports from attached councils show 393 prisoners contacted on 228 visits by one Comitium and Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in 480 homes, by another Comitium. Legionaries in Santo Amaro visited 3,835 homes and commercial premises. There is a weekly apostolate to prostitutes. The Regia of Cuiabá reported that 18 children and 13 adults received First Holy Communion. Apostolate to prisoners and their families was reported from the Regia of Campo Grande.
Brasilia Regia: Catechesis was given to 32 pupils, six of whom were prepared for Holy Communion. The elderly were visited. A new junior Curia was set up in the interior city of Araguatins.
