Quote of the Day
Mary is a living, and willing, instrument in God’s hands; in fact, it is her very will which accomplishes God’s work. The Angel’s greeting to her, in Latin, is ave, a word which contains in reverse order the letters of the name Eva, Eve.5 Mary is summoned to reverse the refusal of our first parents to be the joyful servants of God; and by doing so, by her fiat, she allows the Saviour to be born. This is the primary sense in which she is the cause of our joy. 5 Mutans Hevae nomen, as the hymn Ave maris Stella puts it.
